Abstract
In this study, Finite Element Method (FEM)-based primary response models are employed for investigating the early-age stress-deformation characteristics of Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements (JPCP) under penetration of water in supporting layer during service life through using ANSYS to analyze such model with weak supporting layer (loss of support, impacts of gaps) and wheel load acting at slab edge and center. Relevant literature would be studied in order to find out the critical parameters which are important for the model. The nature of moisture and its effects in concrete, top and down moisture and its long term impact has become a great subject due to pavement performance. In combination with decreasing load transfer efficiency the traffic load cycles activate erosive attack to the surface of cement treated base. If material resistance of CTB is not sufficient the concrete slabs may lose support along the joints. Such horizontal gaps will grow in terms of length and height. To analyze and predict the important factors which lead pavement towards deteriorations, and trigger the erosion and then how we can control the pumping and faulting in JPCP. To connect slab through Dowel Bar and measure the joint efficiency, load transfer ratio and overall decrease of stress-deflection ratio in different Scenario of Loss of support, and find the critical part of slab as well as to predict the failure mode in future, is the core idea of current study. Complete modeling of these scenarios and analysis will also be done in ANSYS.
